Ideal Driving School

Ideal Driving School was established in 1985 and is a family-run business. It has both male and female driving instructors. The instructors are DVSA Approved Driving Instructors (ADI) and hold a Diploma in Driving Instruction (DipDI). They have also achieved the Cardington Special Test - Grade A and are Diamond Advance Instructors. The school's instructors are members of the Institute of Advanced Motorists (MAIM) and the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA).

They are RAC Registered Instructors and hold a City and Guild Adult Education Teaching Certificate. The school teaches in new model Hybrid automatic and manual cars. Training vehicles are equipped with HE-MAN dual controls and dash cams. It offers driving lessons in Peterborough and surrounding areas. Services include traditional driving lessons, intensive and semi-intensive courses, and early test dates.

On First Drove near Bank View in Peterborough, this intensive-course provider draws consistent praise for the patience shown by instructors Idris and Danny, who are named repeatedly across accounts from learners of very different backgrounds. Several reviewers describe arriving after unsuccessful attempts elsewhere or after losing confidence with previous instructors, only to find roundabout lanes and general manoeuvres explained more clearly here.

Something mentioned time and again is the willingness to take on pupils close to their test date, sometimes with only a fortnight left before a booked practical, and to help secure an earlier slot when momentum matters. Anxious learners and those needing extra time are mentioned more than once, with instructors credited for never rushing the pace and for adjusting lesson plans to suit individual progress rather than sticking to a fixed timetable.

Both theory and practical preparation come up, with one parent noting a daughter's first-time pass following roughly a month of tuition. The overall tone is calm and structured, with instructors described as knowledgeable and clear rather than simply friendly. Opening hours run from 8am to 10pm every day of the week, including weekends, which suits pupils fitting lessons around college, work or family commitments in the Peterborough area.
