What customers say

Based on genuine customer reviews

Portsmouth riders speak warmly of Fatboy Motorcycle Training, a Gosport-based outfit whose instructors repeatedly earn praise for patience and encouragement. A number of customers describe arriving with no experience on mopeds or motorbikes and leaving with a CBT certificate, crediting named staff including Gary, Ollie, Pinky, Jake, Andy and Simon with building their confidence on the road. Reviewers often mention the relaxed yet professional atmosphere, with teaching tailored according to each trainee's skill level, and a theme running through the feedback is the helpful tips and clear explanations that make the basics easy to understand.

Many describe returning year after year to renew their CBT, and one rider notes completing direct access module one and module two both first time. The friendliness of the team comes through strongly, with customers describing banter and a family-of-riders feel, alongside learner-safe summer rideouts to a cafe. Nervous beginners are made to feel at ease, and someone who needed an extra day was supported without pressure. Pricing is described as reasonable, booking straightforward, and the instruction efficient and safe. Motorcycle training, CBT and direct access courses are the core of what reviewers value here.

I couldn't have asked for a better instructor for my cbt! The lady was incredibly helpful and informative. Gave me very useful tips and tricks, made it super easy to understand and helped with my confidence on the road a lot. Forgot her name but I think she's the only woman around here that does motorbike training so thank you! Wishing your dog a speedy recovery too 🙏 ❤️

My partner and I decided to take our motorcycle CBT and chose FatBoy due to their availability and reasonable pricing. My husband passed easily, while I needed more time due to my lack of experience. What was supposed to be a one-day CBT turned into two for me, but my instructor was incredibly patient and kind, even when I became overwhelmed and cried. The staff are friendly and full of banter, which can be a bit surprising for someone new to the environment. I truly appreciate the time they dedicated to teaching me, and I will definitely return for my official motorcycle test!

Contacted a couple of weeks ago, was instructed to send message with request, no response. Left a few days to see if they were busy. Contacted again in the week and left a voicemail message this time, no response. That was a week last Tuesday/Wednesday. Given up and contacted ADT an hour ago, they picked up immediately and I'm booked in for this Sunday.

Really good experience. Went in without much knowledge or experience on mopeds and left with a CBT certificate (thanks to Simon) after being taught the basics. Staff is very friendly and a proper laugh, 5stars without a doubt

Well what can I say, I have never met a nicer bunch of people.... (bikers usually are nicer people)... I did my CBT and DAS courses with them and completed them all first time, mainly because I'm awesome.... Jokes aside they are very professional and know how to get the job done safely and efficiently, all the while being down to earth and able to have a laugh. I won't recommend any other company to anyone thinking of getting a bike licence. They went above and beyond for me including payment plan for the DAS course, picking me up and dropping me off for every session as I don't live in gosport and just makkng me feel comfortable enough to pass it all.... Top staff, great bikes and an awesome experience.

Thank you to all the team, but especially many thanks to Jake for the amazing CBT I have received. I was looking for riding schools for a long time, but ended up biting the bullet and going to the closest one - Kick Start Rider Training. The other reviews are certainly true, the guys are friendly but professional, and know exactly what they are doing. I was quite anxious on the day, but they made sure that I knew exactly what we will be doing throughout, and that calmed my nerves. I ended up doing my CBT on 2 days, as I didn't feel confident enough to go out on the road, and Jake was very accommodating. I will be returning next year for DAS, top notch!
