About the company

Phoenix Motorcycle Training was established in 1999 and was acquired by Mark Jaffe in 2019. The Wickham centre is operated as a franchise by Carli and Mark Shaikh. It has a classroom, toilets, free tea and coffee facilities, and a large DVSA-approved motorcycle training area. The centre offers CBT courses 7 days a week.

It caters for motorcyclists in Waltham Chase, Soberton Heath, North Boarhunt, Knowle, Whiteley and Shedfield. Safety equipment is provided as part of the course cost. The centre offers a range of new machines including 50cc and 125cc scooters and 125cc manual bikes. Phoenix Motorcycle Training offers CBT courses.

What customers say

Based on genuine customer reviews

Confidence and patient coaching recur throughout feedback on the CBT and full licence training delivered around Fareham, and the instructors' names appear again and again. Paul, Gary, Mark, Phil and Pinky draw consistent praise for calm, clear teaching that settles nerves, whether someone is completely new to motorcycling or returning after more than three decades away. First-time passes of CBT, Module 1 and Module 2 are reported frequently, and something that features in review after review is the small group sizes, which allow plenty of individual attention and repeated practice of techniques.

Borrowed gear, from boots and gloves to a machine suited to shorter riders, is described as a practical help, while the well-maintained bikes are called a pleasure to ride. Carli, handling bookings in the office, is thanked by name. Riders value the relaxed atmosphere combined with the serious business of meeting required standards, and the safety advice offered during road rides. Those who had spent years off a motorcycle credit the instruction with rebuilding their skills and carrying them through their tests.

Both Mickey and Paul were great and explained things really well. Despite terrible weather they got me to the stage where I felt totally comfortable going on the road ride with Mickey. I'll get 6 months or so under my belt on a 125 then I'll be back for my DAS!

Appalling organisational skills. I got cancelled on twice now just the day before each one. First time it was rebooked for 3 weeks later as that’s all they had. Said I would receive an email and I didn’t. The second time they said we can squeeze you in the day after after I complained it’s already 3 weeks later than originally booked. Turned up early at 9am, texted the mobile number at 9:30am saying can I double check the time as I think I’m early. No response. Rang the number on Google 15 mins later and the woman said oh no they aren’t at wickham weekends it’s in Hilsea! Wasn’t told, nor did I get an email either time it was re arranged to say it’s not at wickham. So I said okay I’ll drive there now can you call and say I’m on my way I’ll be there for 10 (only half an hour late) but I’m not happy I wasn’t told of the location change due to it now being a weekend. This is their mess up and the decent thing would be to let me join 30 minutes later considering the lateness is due to them not communicating properly with me. But no she called back to say they’ve already started so I couldn’t join.. She said all she can do is rebook in AGAIN or refund. I didn’t want to rebook just to be called and cancelled on for a 3rd time. I’m waiting to get on my bike as my vans off the road. It’s extremely frustrating. I have gotten the refund issued and will be going elsewhere. This has meant I had 2 days off work unpaid and then been let down by them and couldn’t get the shifts back. Cost me a lot and I’ve not even got the CBT out of it at the end! I am now going to do the CBT and DA at another company that isn’t going to mess me around.

I took my CBT in Bognor Regis (close to home), then Mod 1 & 2 training in Pompey and Wickham. Passed 1st time on all tests with flying colours. Having not been on a bike for 34 years I was soon back on the road thanks to Mark, Phil and Pinky. All bikes are well maintained and also able to accommodate my shorter stature with a lower bike.

Just spent the day doing my CBT with Phoenix. Gary our instructor made you feel at ease both at the training site and out on the road, giving good advice and clear instructions. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend.
