About the company

Brighouse Motorcycle Training Centre was originally founded in 1991 in Brighouse and now operates in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, trading as Brighouse Motorcycle Training Centre (BMTC). Its instructors are DVSA registered and approved, and it operates a maximum of 2 riders to 1 instructor.

The centre has a half acre purpose built site with on-site training facilities and an on-site motorcycle superstore, and it is located next door to DC Motorcycles. It has a fleet of over 15 training bikes ranging from 49cc to 650cc with varying seat heights, supplied and maintained by DC Motorcycles. Courses include CBT, A1 and A2 licences, a Full Motorcycle Licence, and a Rider Improvement Day.

What customers say

Based on genuine customer reviews

Brighouse Motorcycle Training Centre draws consistent praise for the instructors delivering compulsory basic training and progression through the practical motorcycle tests from its Alder Street base in Huddersfield. Carl, Martin, Paul and Karl are named repeatedly, with reviewers describing clear, patient explanations that put nervous or completely inexperienced riders at ease, along with a relaxed and good humoured teaching style.

Several accounts describe returning for further sessions after an initial CBT, working with the same instructor as training advances through both subsequent test stages, and multiple reviewers report passing at the first attempt. Carol is credited with handling bookings efficiently and keeping students informed between sessions. A taster or introductory motorcycling course also receives mention, described as gently paced for someone who had never sat on a bike before, and one account notes that training continued despite poor weather rather than being cut short.

Couples and family members training together come up more than once, a point that comes up often is the willingness of instructors to accommodate more than one learner at a time. The centre keeps the same opening hours every day of the week, from nine in the morning until five in the afternoon, giving those booking CBT or working towards a full licence a consistent schedule to plan around.

So I couldn't recommend these guys enough... would give them 10 stars if possible. Having never been on a bike before to passing my Mod 2 two weeks ago, and probably only 12 hours in total in the saddle I passed 1st time in everything. A MAHOOSIVE thanks to Chopper for a) believing in me, b) pushing me out of my comfort zone and c) taking time out of his lunch to iron out my weak bits. Dick and the lads are superstars and make you feel comfortable, its like being in a family and I actually miss you lot funnily enough.😘 Thanks again and would recommend these to anyone thinking of learning to ride x Sue xx a 52 year old who was totally out of her comfort zone but only went and did it xxx GET IN !!!

If you are wanting any kind of motorbike training then look no further. This is an excellent training school. Great instructors and good quity bikes to train on. I did my CBT here first then came back to do Mod1 and Mod2 training before my tests. They also have an impressive selection of bikes for sale in the Showroom next to the training. school. As with everything bike related, you have to spend quite a lot of money but I think the investment for training here is well worth it and very reasonably priced. Thanks for all your help so far, especially to Martin.

I used BMTC to get me through my CBT, Mod 1 and Mod 2. It was a great experience and I thoroughly recommend using BMTC. Karl was my instructor throughout and he really took the time to make sure I learnt and understood what I needed to do. Carol was fantastic for sorting all the bookings and Paul had some last minutes words of advice at my Mod 1. Overall very happy indeed!

Fantastic experience at BMTC, had my Taster session with Martin who was brilliant. Then 3 weeks later had my CBT with Karl and Martin and loved it. Couldn't have wished for a better start to my motorbike journey.
