Ace Motorcycle Training runs CBT courses and full licence training from its Bristol base, with reviewers highlighting instructors including Kelly, Kev, Martin and Neil for patient, encouraging teaching that puts nervous beginners at ease. The Try a Bike sessions and half-day introductions are mentioned as a gentle way in for people who have never ridden before, while the well-maintained bikes and organised facilities come up often. Pupils moving on to Mod 1 and Mod 2 training describe instruction that focuses on real-world riding skill rather than just passing the test. The school holds a 4.8-star average from 451 reviews.

4.8 / 5 · 451 totalI was recommended ace by a trustworthy colleague. I had a full training day with Guy which was amazing and he was very helpful and supportive so I booked to have my CBT with them, I had Paul and Andy ‘twiggy’. Paul was lovely but twiggy was very abrupt and put me on edge. Every answer was wrong but when a man said it, it was correct. My name was apparently “too hard to say” so I got called a nickname all day. On the actual road ride he made it very stressful and was threatening to not pass us even though it’s not a test it’s meant to be training. It knocked my confidence massively and it’s a shame as all of the other instructors were so nice and wanted you to succeed. Seemed as though he picked on the less confident riders to feel more superior.
Passed my CBT today with Tom he was absolutely amazing will definitely be booking my mod1 and mod2 couldn’t recommend these guys enough
Sue was very rude from the moment i walked through the door to me and to another new bike rider. Very sad. PAUL however was an amazing instructor. Shame the day was ruined at the start with shouting .
I've done my cbt with ace many times over the years and I couldn't fault the trainers up until yesterday..when i got in the van and I was accused of given a one star review the last time I did my cbt with them..which I dont recall.. This and made to feel I had done something wrong and felt like i had to explain myself .Then back at the base I used the toilet and found a bunch of keys..I came out the toilet handed them to the same member staff who made the comment about the one star..i did not get a thanks he just handed them to another member of staff and said if one key is missing we know where to look. Always one I guess. As for the other staff they was really good and i made a point of thanking them ..not to sure if I will use them again now.
From CBT to now a Full A license, all training courses done with Ace. Passed MOD 1 and MOD 2 first time, after a day training. Was given outstanding instructions and support throughout the process. The instructors are preparing you for the real dangers on day-to-day riding, not just enough to pass a test. Their guidance really made a difference on my riding. Their bikes are also of great quality, after riding the Kawasaki Z, Im now considering getting one myself. Special thanks to the team - Martin, Tom and Kelly! 10/10 highly recommend Ace, not a single thing to fault.
I can’t recommend Ace highly enough. I completed my CBT, Mod 1, and Mod 2 with them, passing both tests with just a single minor. The instructors are knowledgeable, approachable, and clearly invested in getting you test-ready without cutting corners. What stood out was the focus on real-world riding, building skills and awareness beyond just passing the test. By the time the tests came around, I felt properly prepared and confident on the bike. If you’re considering training, ask for Neil. He’s patient, clear in his instruction, and made a significant difference to both my confidence and overall riding ability.
I Attended Ace motorcycle training, after recommending my children to go here. both have completed CBT training twice here. I completed my 125 CBT with trainer Tom, his went well. I later, after passing had a taster session on a kawasaki Z650 with Martin. I went on to book my theory and mod 1 training. I had mod 1 training with Twiggy, he said he does not do failures. he got me through and I passed my Mod 1, no minors, zero faults on my 1st attempt. I was very nervous but amazed how well i did. I am now booked for mod 2 with ace , to finally get out on the road as a competent rider and hopefully my license.
