About the company

Phoenix Motorcycle Training was established in 1999 and is a limited company (Phoenix Motorcycle Training LTD). In 2019, the business was acquired by Mark Jaffe. Phoenix is the UK's first MCIAC Gold Standard Training School. The Bristol centre is based at Clifton Rugby Club, Patchway, close to Cribbs Causeway. The Bristol centre offers all levels of motorcycle tuition to new and experienced riders. Courses include Try Rides, Compulsory Basic Training, full licence training, and Advanced Rider certifications.

The Bristol training centre's facilities include a classroom, toilets, free tea and coffee, and a large, safe DVSA-approved motorcycle training area. The centre trains candidates for both CBT and Full Licence practical testing in its training area. Advanced courses use a variety of public UK roads, often covering over 150 miles. In most instances, riders are able to use their own bike for advanced motorcycling courses. Popular advanced courses include the Enhanced Rider Scheme, Blue Ribband, and Diamond advanced tuition.

What customers say

Based on genuine customer reviews

A range of motorcycle courses forms the backbone of feedback for this training centre based at Clifton Rugby Club in Henbury, Patchway, covering CBT, Back to Biking sessions for returning riders, TryRide taster days, full DAS instruction and module test preparation for the practical exams. Instructors named repeatedly include Jorge, Andy, Will, Andrew and Shaun, credited with a relaxed, unhurried manner that helps nervous or first-time riders settle quickly.

Several accounts describe progressing from no experience at all through to a full licence over a matter of months, with steady coaching and honest feedback along the way. A point raised more than once is the way explanations are broken down and repeated in different ways until fully grasped, rather than rushed through, with instructors said to encourage riders to develop their own style once the basics are secure.

Even when a test attempt does not succeed straight away, reviewers note that encouragement continues without any sign of frustration from the team. The whole operation is frequently described as thoroughly organised, with training days running smoothly from start to finish. Based on Station Road and open every day of the week from eight in the morning until five in the afternoon, the centre caters for complete beginners, lapsed riders and those working steadily towards a full motorcycle licence.

I don't know where to start. All in all a fantastic training centre. I was trained with shaun and will who i have to thank for giving me the tools to pass. Demonstrated great resolve and patience teaching me and left no stone unturned. Everything was explained carefully and thoroughly and anything i didnt understand was explained in multiple different ways until i did. 100 percent recommend and i will be continuing my journey with them for sure.

Friendly, welcoming staff, easy to book and great communication. Both my son and daughter use Phoenix Motorcycle Training Bristol for their CBT tests and they highly recommend them. They wouldn't go anywhere else. :)

An enormous thank you to the whole team at Phoenix Motorcycle Training in Bristol for all the knowledge, support, patience and advice they gave me throughout my training. Every member of the team is amazing. Even when I did not pass my tests and needed more attempts, I never felt any disappointment or negativity from them—only encouragement, understanding and belief that I could succeed. They are professional, well organised and excellent instructors, but they are also genuinely kind people with big hearts. I felt supported during every stage of my journey. I would highly recommend Phoenix Motorcycle Training in Bristol to anyone looking to complet a full motorcycle licence or CBT. Thank you to the whole team for everything you have done for me!

I had an absolutely fantastic experience with Phoenix Motorcycle Training during my 7-hour Back to Biking session. From start to finish, everything was professional, well-organized, and enjoyable. A huge thank you to my instructor, Jorge. He is incredibly knowledgeable, patient, kind, and has a great sense of humour, which made the whole day both relaxed and confidence-building. His clear guidance and professional approach helped me regain my riding skills and confidence far quicker than I expected. He has a real talent for adapting his teaching to your experience level and making sure you feel safe and supported throughout. Whether you're a complete beginner, returning to motorcycling after a break like I was, or an experienced rider looking to sharpen your skills, I genuinely can't recommend Phoenix Motorcycle Training highly enough. They create a welcoming environment where learning is enjoyable, and the quality of instruction is outstanding. Thank you, Jorge, and the entire Phoenix Motorcycle Training team, for such an amazing experience. I left feeling more confident, more capable, and even more excited about riding than ever before. 10+ stars without hesitation.

Phoenix is a fantastic motorcycle school. Going in with zero bike experience, I did my CBT, Mod 1, and Mod 2, passing everything first time. Their teaching is excellent, which theh tailor based on skill. This is backed up by great quality bikes and a brilliant off-road space to practice manoeuvres. The on-road instruction is equally impressive; the bikes are kept in top condition, and the instructors are punctual, professional, and supportive. They talk you through every step of the tests and make sure you're comfortable. My experience was with Sean and Will as instructors. Couldn't recommend more.

Excellent CBT experience. I'd never ridden a manual bike before despite having automatic experience. Andy and Jorge were patient, reassuring, supportive and gave me the time and confidence to make mistakes and learn without any pressure. The other reviews speak for themselves and we're why I chose Phoenix, but I can't testify enough about the quality of the whole day with phoenix, and now I'm a proud CBT accredited rider. Thanks Andy and Jorge. Also, my bike had 2 miles on when I started so faultless kit.

I did a manual CBT with zero prior experience on a motorbike other than being a passenger. I had instructor Andy and he was absolutely brilliant from start to finish. He explained everything clearly, answered all questions, had patience and gave constructive feedback without feeling patronising to help me complete the day. I went from being nervous to riding comfortably on the road by the end of the day. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Phoenix and Andy to anyone.
