These guys are truly great. Very accommodating for all skill levels. I myself have rode bikes before. Superb instruction that will get you passed. My Mod 1 and 2 pass rates were both flawless (no minors on either). I literally couldn't recommend them higher having used other local instructors for CBTs etc.
Alex was brilliant. Really nice guy, knows his stuff, very patient and a great teacher.

I trained with Direct Rider Training from retaking my CBT all the way through to completing Mod 2 and getting my full motorcycle licence, and I couldn’t recommend them highly enough. Alex was my trainer throughout and he handled every session brilliantly. He was always welcoming, patient, and genuinely focused on helping me learn properly. His advice was clear and practical, and he knew exactly when to push me and when to build my confidence, which made a huge difference to my progress. The bikes were always well maintained, and Alex was more than happy to make adjustments to suit the rider, which really helped with comfort and confidence while learning. You can tell he takes pride in both his teaching and his machines. On top of that, communication from the admin side was excellent — always prompt, polite, and well organised — which made the whole process smooth and stress-free. I thoroughly enjoyed learning with Alex and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Direct Rider Training to anyone thinking about going for their bike licence or CBT.
Direct Rider Training is absolutely top-notch, especially if you're feeling nervous and lacking confidence like I was! From the moment I signed up, the team was incredibly supportive and professional, which really helped ease my anxiety. The instructor Alex is very patient, knowledgeable, and really knows how to make you feel comfortable, even when you're a nervous newbie. I went from barely knowing how to start a bike and feeling totally unsure of myself, to confidently cruising around, all thanks to his guidance. The training bikes are well-maintained, and the whole setup is just fantastic. If you're looking to get your CBT etc.., and need a supportive environment, look no further – these guys are the best in the business! They turned my nervousness into newfound confidence on the road.
I would like to thank Alex and Claire for booking my mod1 and mod2 tests which they did aa close to my availability as possible. I went for an assessment with Alex, he told me I only needed to do a few lessons for each mod test, I am quite new to riding and Alex was so calm and explained everything well. Alex pointed out what I was doing well and what we needed to work on, I am one of those people that the more I do something the more I get it wrong and Alex picked up on this. I enjoyed my ride outs with Alex and built more confidents while out riding with him, he was so chilled and encouraged you while out riding through the headset. Alex likes to get to know his students and what works and doesn’t work for them. I was grateful to Alex on my test days when I said no I don’t want to do anything until we ride to the test centre he was okay with this and did whatever I wanted so I was comfortable. I passed both mod1 and mod2 which I am chuffed about. Thank you Alex, I can’t recommend Alex and direct rider training enough especially if you are always doubting yourself because when you finish you will be confident.
In the past 6 weeks i've completed my CBT and Direct Access with Direct Rider Training and here's a few things i'd like to talk about. Buckle up cause it's gonna be long but it's worth reading to work out if they're right for you. Day 1, Alex asked what my background is with bikes, and gauged an idea of where I was at skill/experience wise. Throughout the CBT he was very good at highlighting where I was good and where I was bad, in a constructive way At no point did I feel negative about any of his feedback. The course didn't feel rushed, and he taught the group of us in a very efficient manner. It left me feeling like i'd learnt the basics, and was confident enough to be on the road on a small bike, exactly what the course is designed for. I expressed my wishes to go to the Direct Access route after the CBT, and even on the on-road rides on the CBT course he was already setting the foundations of what would be expected for the Direct Access training. He worked out how long he thought I would need for full license training on the big bike, and it was spot on. Next came scheduling in the DA training dates. Claire is very friendly and helpful, and she organised everything and gave me dates including booking in exams, I didn't have to lift a finger, and the dates were all ones that suited me. Can't fault her, she was fab the whole time, and even when changing a few things around she was really good to deal with. I'm not the only person during my training that echoed this. DA training began, and Mod 1 is all off road. I personally struggled with this section as it felt very unrealistic, but despite my frequent mistakes, and overthinking, Alex was incredibly patient and found ways to help me learn to control the bike in a way that suited me. We then went to on-road sections so you don't spend the whole day riding around cones, and he was very constructive and supportive of any mistakes made on road. Was reassuring with my nerves about the exam, which thanks to him I flew through with no faults. Mod 2 and we spent all of our sessions on the road, much to my relief. Again, Alex was very patient with me, this training was all 1-to-1 which was massively useful as I had his full attention, and believe me I asked a LOT of questions! I had a few common errors I was making which I found after each session, we had nipped in the bud, and not once did Alex lose his patience with me. Come my final session, I felt test ready, albeit nervous. And I passed my Mod 2 with 1 minor fault. Well chuffed. Without Alex's guidance, I feel this would have been a (more) stressful process. In reality, I felt like I was out for a ride with a mate. So much so that we are going to stay in touch even though i've now passed my test and have started riding my own bike. Can't praise him enough for how he dealt with me, and I can't recommend Direct Rider Training more strongly. You'll learn a lot, you'll have fun doing it, and you'll finish feeling confident, well trained, and like you've made a new friend.
