About the company

Suffolk Riders provides advanced motorcycle training for Suffolk and nearby East Anglian motorcyclists. The training aims to enable riders to be safer, smoother and capable of passing the RoSPA Advanced Motorcycling Test. Training is delivered one-to-one by a dedicated team of tutors.

What customers say

Based on genuine customer reviews

One-to-one tutoring paired with group training rides forms the backbone of the advanced motorcycle instruction offered by this Needham Market based club, run along lines drawn from police advanced riding methods. Members repeatedly describe being matched with a personal tutor soon after joining, with outings typically covering a mix of road types and ending with a debrief over coffee, gradually building machine handling and hazard perception.

Several accounts mention working towards a RoSPA advanced qualification, with progress checked through an assessed ride alongside a senior instructor, and more than one member reports finishing the process with a gold-level result. Riders returning to biking after a long break, including someone moving on from years riding pillion, are mentioned as having been guided by named tutors such as Keith until confident enough to handle a machine independently.

The social side features almost as strongly as the coaching, with rideouts arranged across Britain and abroad, a welcoming approach towards newcomers regardless of experience, and camaraderie between long-standing riders and those still developing their skills. All instruction is delivered by volunteers, yet members describe the training as feeling professionally run and good value for money. The club runs daily between 8am and 9pm from the Needham Market Community Centre on School Street, near Ipswich.

I have been a keen motorcyclist for many years and always believed in the benefits of good training, both for safety and overall enjoyment. I made contact with Suffolk Riders and quickly became aware of how dynamic and active the group is. By far the best motorcycle group I've been involved with. Great members, well structured training and excellent social events.

Fantastic group to be part of. The training massively improves awareness and machine handling skills and there is a real camaraderie and mutual respect amongst the members. When I first joined I was concerned that there would be a load of speed freaks and I would be left to feel like a complete novice but the group is really welcoming of all abilities. Want to improve your riding skills and meet two-wheeled enthusiasts who share your passion? Then this is the group for you.

I am so pleased to have joined the Suffolk Riders to improve my riding skills and for the social side of motorcycling. The knowledge and riding techniques I have learned have given me more confidence on the road and are used each time I ride, there is always a lot of chat and banter to be enjoyed each time the group meet!

I joined Suffolk Riders in October 2019 and within a month I was allocated a tutor. During the winter we met up regularly for one to one training sessions which were usually made up of approximately 50 miles of a variety of roads and a debrief over a coffee. March lockdown put the anchors on for three months and then the training resumed. In early October I did the check ride with a senior tutor and was recommended to take the ROSPA Advanced Riders test which took place on 3rd November achieving a silver pass. Along with the training there were monthly group meetings which have been cancelled during the pandemic. A monthly newsletter throughout, group training and social rides have continued when allowed. All of which are with the main aim of making you safer on the road along with an enjoyable easy going social side. I would recommend this group to anyone, especially the younger generation, it's been a pleasure.

Well structured training in a friendly environment. I encouraged my wife to join as she was returning to riding after many years of pillion. She was guided through the training by Keith & passed her test two years ago. She gained confidence and ability & now rides her KTM 790 Duke beautifully........swift but safe. I’d been motorcycling for 42 years before I took up the RoSPA training with Suffolk Riders, to support my wife, and admit that I was slightly sceptical. However, I learnt so much and now enjoy my riding much more. I feel more confident, more in control of situations and machine & definitely ride so much better. Should have done it years ago.
