About the company

Rapid Training Ltd is a motorcycle training provider based in York. It is Honda's Official Training Partner and the UK's only Honda Approved Centre. The company's coaches include TT racers, British Superbike Championship racers, Endurance racers, Flat Track champions, and police Class 1 qualified riders and instructors. Rapid Training also runs a British Superbike Championship race team.

With 25 years of experience, it coaches riders ranging from BSB racers to road novices. It offers road courses, track courses, motorcycle tours, and kit. Its flagship course, BIKEMASTER, incorporates track coaching into the syllabus. The approach reduces complexity by showing riders how to intuitively trade off speed and position relative to multiple competing hazards. Machine control techniques form an integral part of all RAPID road courses and RAPID track courses.

What customers say

Based on genuine customer reviews

Advanced rider courses form the core of what this Harrogate-based provider delivers, with reviewers describing track days and road sessions under the Bikemaster and Roadmaster banners. Coaches named in feedback include Phil, Iain Jamieson, Rowan, Mark Reilly and Colin Reid, who are repeatedly credited with observing each rider's technique before suggesting adjustments, then building skills in small increments. Riders note marked gains in cornering, engine management, overtaking and general confidence across two-day programmes, and several mention that the instruction works equally well in dry, damp or wet conditions.

The atmosphere comes across as relaxed and encouraging, with riders who returned after long breaks reporting that initial nerves were quickly settled. Track facilities, among them a cafe, showers and clean amenities, draw positive remarks, as does the company of fellow enthusiasts. Reviewers frequently say they intend to book further sessions, and the coaching is described as stretching riders beyond what they thought possible without any sense of pressure. The incremental teaching method, applied to road riding as much as track work, is what appears to keep people coming back.

Delighted to spend 2 x days on track with such enthusiastic riders & coaches. Learned loads with Phil and his enthusiasm for the sport was great to hear. My riding improved tremendously and can't wait to get back on track. Also plan to book again in 2027.

I got exactly what I wanted from this course, training on how to handle my bike (rs660) better and tap into what me and the bike are capable of. First time on track and I am stunned at the improvement over the 7 sessions. Coach Phil was encouraging, friendly and really good at getting the best out of us. I went far beyond my expectations with no pressure and a huge grin. Also must mention the overall atmosphere is really easy going and friendly. I did L1 Master your Machine and will be back soon for L2 then hopefully Track Master.

I had the most amazing two days at Rapid Training Blyton for two days this week, believe the “Hype” it’s far, far better than you’ve heard/read believe me . . . Mark Reilly my coach was absolutely brilliant, he looked after me and my fellow rider so well, he was so patient, I learnt so much and my riding improved so much too, it’s a great technical circuit too ✊. Fantastic facilities too, clean loo’s, showers , great cafe too, open dorm 8am till late pm , serving great food and drinks . .thx, very impressed indeed and looking forward my next two sets of bike master training days ✊ Wavey Davey, Rob Farmer, Pete Boast and all the Rapid Team looked after us all so, so well, everybody was so helpful, friendly and it was best fun I’ve had with my clothes on 🤪.

I was looking forward to the whole process with the aim of improving my skill set being a reasonably new rider after a very long break. I can’t believe how far I feel my riding has improved over these two days. Have to say the whole process was an epiphany for me with a complete education on what the bike could do, engine management, how to manage its abilities, how to focus your eye on best lines, overtaking - there was so much crammed into 2 days but you didn’t feel overwhelmed by it, but felt the improvement in your own ability by the hour. Can’t thank Phil enough for the absolutely fantastic tutoring he brought to the course - communication and education he provided have been complete game changers to me. And I have to add, he tapers it to your skill set. If you think you have nothing to learn whatever your ability - Phil would take you to another level regardless. Now, for me, it’s about practicing and maintaining what I’ve learn, but honestly my confidence has increased 10-fold from where it was without loosing sight that this is a perishable skill if you don’t maintain it. I can honestly say, this has been one of the best experiences I’ve ever had with a fantastic tutor. Im now trying to work out when I can fit in the level 2…cant stress enough what an incredible experience this has been for me. The bike feels like a completely different machine.

Anyone who is considering riding a modern motorcycle on the road should take this training. We might all like to think we are good riders, when you get out on the road with riders who have done 30 years as police pursuit riders you realise you don’t know stuff that you can’t learn from mates or U-Tube. The coaches are calm, non-critical, patient and incredibly knowledgable. The course well structured for fast development, and can show the best cafe racers a clean pair of heels on bikes with half the power that those being coached. Having a few days on track to work out what one’s machine will do and then back on the road is a game changer. It gives all riders a wireframe, principles and structure to build on for all aspects of cornering, overtaking, safe positioning improving stability and safety margins without giving up progressive riding. Changing style and positioning takes time but this gives you the information and skills to build … I have no hesitation recommending this, especially for those who think they have the skills to ride swiftly on the road. Having done the course, now watching other riders terrifies me, if you don’t know what you don’t know every hazard is throwing the dice.

I will always advocate for people to sign up to some form of advanced training on their bike and having completed level 2 and level 3 of Rapid I highly recommend signing up to one of their courses. Was paired up with Alistair for the 4 days in total on the road and not only did he know the best roads to ride in the Borders and the best lunch and scone spots, he has a great wealth of knowledge and experience when it comes to biking. It was great to see just how much I came on from the start of day 1 to the end of day 4 and learn more about mine and my bike capabilities on the road. For the 2 days on the track, I was lucky to be paired with Vinnie for both days. Again, he had a lot of experience and knowledge which he shared with the group to help us get the best out of each session. Although there were 3 of us in the group, he still offered us all personal feedback and advice to get the best out of the day. Overall, had the best time on both the track and road sessions and it's great to look back to see just how much I have improved and excited to keep putting what I've learned into practice out and about myself 👍🏻 !

Back to rapid for my annual training days. Phil was the coach man this year. Another top job, again just making small changes trying different techniques. My riding has moved on massively from my first trip with rapid in 2009ish. Dry, damp and wet I still enjoyed it immensely. Highly recommended, got to see friends I'd made over the years. Thanks everyone. Fastish Vern. 😉
