Manual Learners

Manual Learners is an independent, locally based driving school serving Llanelli and the City of Swansea. It offers tuition in both manual and automatic transmission vehicles. All instruction is delivered by fully qualified Approved Driving Instructors (ADIs). Elwyn Marfell-Jones is the Principal Instructor, and the school has over 30 years of driving experience.

Manual Learners teaches individuals from 15 years to over 60s, including those with disabilities or special needs. It provides taxi training for the DSA Taxi Test and has provided driving instruction to many Swansea City Football Players. The school also operates a dual control car hire business for driving instructors.

Manual transmission tuition in Swansea is provided by Manual Learners, and the feedback left by pupils concentrates on the calm, methodical teaching they received. Learners who had not driven for several years describe being put at ease from the outset, with instruction broken down clearly enough to rebuild confidence and reach test standard. Reviewers repeatedly single out named instructors, among them Elwyn, Barry Evans and Martin Ball, for their professionalism and patience, and one account notes passing the driving test at the first attempt after a short run of lessons.

A detail many reviews return to is the competitive pricing, which customers consider fair for the standard of tuition given. The approach is consistently portrayed as thorough, with manoeuvres explained step by step until pupils feel competent behind the wheel. Gratitude for individual instructors runs through the accounts, particularly for the perseverance shown in helping learners manage nerves and progress towards their test. Preparation for the practical driving test is the focus the reviews describe, and the credit goes to instructors who combine steady encouragement with structured, professional lessons.
